On June 26, surrounded by families, friends, donors, and community partners, we officially broke ground on the long-awaited expansion of our House — a milestone moment in our journey to serve even more families with children receiving medical care in Charleston.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked more than the start of construction. It marked the beginning of a new chapter built on compassion, community, and unwavering hope. With shovels in hand and hearts full, we celebrated not just a building project, but a mission in motion — to provide comfort, care, and a ‘Home-away-from-home’ for those who need it most.
“We give thanks for this sacred ground, soon to be a place of comfort and care, A home away from home for those whose hearts are heavy with worry, And whose children are in need of healing hands and compassionate hearts.”
– Reverand Dr. Kylon Jerome Middleton, Sr.
This expansion will more than double our capacity and help us say “yes” to more families in moments of medical crisis. Over the summer, construction crews will prepare the site, move utilities, and lay the foundation for what’s to come — a place where siblings can play, parents can rest, and families can find strength in one another.
We invite you to view the moments that made this day unforgettable and join us as we continue building hope, healing, and home — together.
